Note: Please be reminded that this guide is solely for Maxis postpaid user. For Hotlink prepaid user who wanted to retrieve their MMS pictures, refer to the other guide. iPhone and iPad functionality has not been fully tested. However, the latest popular phone model such as Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG do not have much problem.

How do I view the Maxis / Hotlink MMS info?


For Maxis:

1. Go directly to the Maxis site by typing http://mms.maxis.net.my and/or http://www.maxis.com.my/mms

2. Click on the Maxis logo. Please be aware, click this only if you’re using Maxis postpaid.

3. Put in your mobile phone number, together with the password provided in the SMS.

4. Normally, you can see the pictures sent by your friends.

5. But, if you’re receiving an Alert, it stated that your account may have expired.

NOTE: You must open the website, along with the password in 24 hours. Otherwise, it’ll get expired.
All you need to do is just activate back the MMS function. Send any MMS pictures to mms@mms.maxis.net.my.

Or you can ask your friend to resend the MMS pictures back to you.
But please remember, you must use an MMS enabled phone, or in an easy word, a mobile phone that can show pictures.

Multimedia Messages as used in mobile phones are some two or three pieces of media packaged together into a message. The media can be text, even formatted, sound, pictures, possibly video. The (optional, but typical) binding is done with a new and special piece of data, a Smil file.
Once an MMS has been composed, transmission is another story.

So what’s SMS? And what’s MMS?

The difference that we can see is that the size of an MMS message containing a color picture is much bigger than the size of an SMS (which normally allocates only 140 bytes of memory space). MMS messages support sending different message elements such as audio, video, animations etc. while SMS messages are only text based. MMS messages can also consist of multiple pages.

So, SMS is no longer use in future?

What do I need to use Multimedia Messaging Service – MMS?

You need the following to use Multimedia Messaging Service – MMS:

* An MMS compatible phone.
* A subscription to MMS service.
* To configure the MMS settings on the mobile (Automatic Configuration can be done depending on the mobile phone manufacturer.)

What are the file formats supported in MMS messages?

There are no limitations from the MMS network however, limitations might arise from the mobile device.

Current MMS phones support :

Pictures: GIF, JPEG and animated GIF
Audio: AMR, WAV and MIDI
Video : 3GPP, Real media (RM)

How many pictures can I store in my mobile phone’s memory?

The exact number of pictures you can store depends on your mobile phone type, the available memory and the picture size.

On the other hand, JPEG compressed pictures are even more effective than GIF compressed pictures and you can store a lot more.

What’s the MMS pixel size?

Normally, it’ll be:

101×80 (Sagem, Siemens, Sony-Ericsson)

174×130 (Nokia)

120×160 (Motorola, Sharp, Sony-Ericsson)
